Clear Coat Correction
Clear Coat Correction is used to create a protective barrier to your vehicle to prevent sun damage, corrosion from bird droppings, and more. At only three millimeters, thinner than a post-it note, this “barely there” clear coat is very necessary for your vehicle to stay protected from the elements and keep it shining for years to come.
The increased use of toxic lead-based paint prior to 1970 created the need for an environmentally safe solution to replace harmful lead-based paints. In 1970, a clear coat made of acrylic polyurethane was introduced to the market. Paint was changed to a urethane base allowing the clear coat to bond to the paint creating the enamel on your vehicle to help prevent peeling.
The clear coat on a vehicle doesn’t just make it shine, but it also provides protection from the sun and harmful UVA and UVB rays. Constant exposure to these ultraviolet rays can cause a “bleaching” effect and create small cracks that ultimately lead to rust. Choosing to forego clear coat protection leaves your vehicle exposed to corrosion causing elements like snow, rain, bug guts, fallout, acidic bird droppings, and more.
